Since its inception in 2002, the Saint Rock Haiti Foundation has grown from serving only 100 patients to caring for over 40,000 registered patients in 2018. As the patient volume continues to grow, our goal remains the same: to provide unwavering access to the dignified health care that these Haitian communities deserve.
The Foundation is working to expand their current operations to a brand new facility which will be a significant step towards meeting that goal.
In honor of Dr. Stephen Bresnahan, MD – a beloved board member, volunteer, supporter and friend of SHRF – please consider making a gift to Building Hope so that we may fulfill his wish of building this new facility to better serve the community of Saint Rock, Haiti.

Letter from Dr. Stephen Bresnahan, MD
Haiti changed my life and that of my family . I will forever be grateful for the many opportunities for growth and joy it has afforded me .
In my many years of providing care as a physician in urban and sometimes underserved communities in and around Boston, I thought I would be prepared for Haiti. I was not and after more than 10 years volunteering on behalf of the Saint Rock Haiti Foundation, I am still repeatedly stunned by the enormity of human inequity, especially in the basic human right of health care. But I have also benefited from seeing the difference compassion and generosity for others can make. I have traveled with friends, colleagues and strangers who have given their time and talents to help the less fortunate and I have worked hand in hand with my Haitian colleagues to find a better way to erase these inequities.
Despite the progress, however, there is more to be done. It is clear that expansion of space and services currently available through the Saint Rock Haiti Foundation Centre de Santé is desperately needed. I have watched what was just once an idea, start to take form through our partnership with Build Health International. I have walked the land where this health center will stand, providing dignified health care, jobs and, perhaps most importantly, hope for the future.
As I face my own unexpected and serious illness, I realize there remains much work to be done, mostly in the form of fundraising. I am unspeakably grateful for the immense generosity that has already been pledged but I hope for more so I can be assured that aspiration becomes reality. There is nothing more that would provide me with a greater sense of peace and the continued belief in the kindness of the human spirit.
Thank you for your commitment, encouragement and belief in a shared vision.
Sincerely,
Stephen Bresnahan, MD
