Community Outreach Programs

As the clinic has grown we have also become involved with the community.  Three people, Reynold Cadet, Rock Deline and Jean Fleau Cadet, came to us to start a goat husbandry program in 2006. The foundation financed the start up of the goat husbandry program giving twenty families two goats. This program is self-sustaining as new goats are born and given to a new family.  We now have thirty families with goats, eight baby goats and three pregnant goats.  The importance of this program is to provide goat’s milk to the family as well as nourishing the soil with the manure from the goats.

Last year the same three people asked us to help finance a micro loan program.  This program will put women with no income to work by extending a loan to start up a small business.  We started with ten women. Some were taught ways to buy supplies and sell them to make a profit while others were taught ways to cook or sew products to make a profit.  After one year the women in the program have paid a third of the money back. We have added another ten women to the successful micro loan program.

We also have a child sponsorship program that has grown to 52 children.  You can sponsor a child for $20 a month. This pays for tuition, uniforms and any supplies needed and also a little money for food.
